In both my undergraduate and postgraduate studies, I attended the Muhimbili University of Health And Allied Sciences (MUHAS). MUHAS has Muhimbili National Referral Hospital (MNH) as its teaching hospital, so we saw a wide range of cases for learning, from the ordinary to the extraordinary. I used to come across addicts and their related conditions all the time. I used to see them in custody as packers or as prisoners with complications or trauma related to their use because they are involved in a lot of risky behavior.
We use holistic approach to treatment where the client’s medical problems are addressed together with mental health, emotional issues, family issues and personal issues. The Awaited Rehab Centre is a home and people live here like a family leaving behind all the differences and focusing on getting recovery which is meaningful to them and others. Once the clients have positive outlook to addiction, during their recovery they become useful part of the family and community at large contributing back to the socio-economic wellbeing of the society at large.

Drug addiction, also called substance use disorder, is a disease that affects a person's brain and behavior and leads to an inability to control the use of a legal or illegal drug or medicine. Substances such as alcohol, marijuana and nicotine also are considered drugs.
Don’t let the perceived cost of rehab keep you from getting sober. There are many options available to help you get the treatment you deserve.
When you use or do something despite negative consequences. When you don’t want to use or do something but cannot stop. You need to accept that you need help to stop.
Medical or physical detox takes 7-14days after which mental detox takes 4-6weeks.
The cost for a client is 1.5m per month.
As per the program requirement, in-house treatment is a minimum of 120 days, and an aftercare program is for 2 months where clients visit or stay for 2-3 days. The aftercare program is FREE!
If you are addicted to alcohol, pills, or illegal drugs, the first step toward recovery is detox. Also called detoxification or withdrawal treatment, detox is the safe process of clearing a substance from your body.
At The Awaited Rehab detox is a safe way of removal of the substance physically and mentally, with the support of pharmaceutical agents, a support system, and treatment therapies to overcome withdrawal symptoms.
We provide basic hygiene products such as bath soap, laundry soap, toothpaste, and toothbrushes. We also supply fresh sheets and towels. Toiletries, clothing, and shoes should also be brought.
The rehab will advise you and your family on where your treatment has progressed in terms of program and therapies, as well as the next steps. If you wish to leave the treatment program despite the advice, we will provide discharge against the advice of the rehab.
